Everyone has a natural stopping point to which their teeth can actually whiten.
The question I get asked most often is, “How long will my results last?”
*The answer actually depends on you, and your lifestyle. With maintenance being a key component in keeping a beautiful white smile. So remember to get your dental cleanings 1-2x annually, regularly brush/floss, rinse your mouth after consuming dark pigmented food/drink.
*To help you maintain your beautiful white smile, be sure to book within 6 months.
*Some clients may have white spots and those spots are most likely going to stay the first 48 hours before fading.
*Clients who have natural yellow undertones will usually see great results as long as their teeth are healthy and can be whitened!
*Clients who have gray undertones in their enamel might not see great results from a whitening. Naturally gray teeth (not from decay or trauma) are the hardest to whiten.
*Crowns & Veneers- Teeth whitening does not damage, weaken or compromise it. Treatment will only lighten your crown or veneer to what your original shade was. Does not shade lighter than your original.
*Temporarily some sensitivity or very minimal sensitivity is normal after whitening.
*Do you have white spots on your teeth before whitening?.....
White spots are common and are not actually ‘staining’ so will not be removed by whitening procedures. In fact, whitening your teeth can sometimes make the patches are more noticeable.
–Trauma- Some people will experience trauma to the teeth as a child and this can cause marks in adult life. Also the way the teeth erupt and meet can cause trauma that will produce the mottled appearance.
–Demineralisation- When plaque builds up on the teeth, this can cause acid to leech the minerals from the enamel and cause white spots. Also the formation of white patches when braces come off.
–Fluorosis- Caused from a very high fluoride intake while the teeth are developing. Fluorosis can lead to icy or frosty patches, white marks or even brown or yellow discoloration of the teeth.
